Four Ways to Balance Thrift Finds with Commercial Buys

Hello there friends!

We are talking about one of our favorite things today, well that could be everyday but this one is especially close to our hearts. How to balance thrift finds and commercial buys within your house!

The most important part is to create the ultimate flow throughout your house when you have both thrifted and commercial purchases. You don’t want to have one room in your house with all of the commercial buys and another with all the thrifted items.

If you mix the amount of both in each room then you’ll find the perfect balance. Also, if you love an eclectic design style then this will make the flow throughout the house much easier to balance.

We have created four tips on how you can easily achieve this design styles. But just remember -it can take time!

  1. Color Palette

How much can I talk about a color palette? It pretty much connects back to everything when designing a home. As we discussed with an eclectic design style, a color palette is key to keeping everything unified. When combining commercial buys and thrift finds try the best to keep all the items within your specified color palette within your home.

  1. 50/50 is a Safe Balance

But how am I supposed to know whether it is balance, Waite? Well, I shall tell you! We usually try to keep the balance of thrift to commercial at 50/50. If you have more thrifted items, then all the better in my opinion! But 50/50 is a great place to work towards if you are just starting to add thrifted, vintage, or inherited items into your space.

  1. Invest in Quality Commercial Pieces

When you are adding commercial pieces into your room then it is best to invest in quality pieces of furniture. It is so easy to go for the cheapest options for furniture because they are everywhere. The blend of commercial and thrifted will look the most natural when the commercial pieces are investment pieces. They just don’t make furniture like they used to and those thrifted pieces need quality commercial items to complement one another.

  1. Keep in Mind Seasonal Decor

Thrifted seasonal décor is the best! All you have to do is keep your eye out for it throughout all the seasons and buy it when you see it. When thrifting seasonal décor, it doesn’t have to be only vintage items you are looking for. At thrift stores you can also find great deals on current décor styles as well. When putting the décor in your space just keep in mind how they can skew your 50/50 balance.
