Do you have a favorite item you are drawn to decorating with all year long? We do! And guess what? Today we are discussing our favorite non-seasonal home décor item – candles!
Now this may be controversial — we are not fans of candles with scents for a bunch of reasons but other than that we love candles. They are so fun to decorate with! They can be placed on tables, mantels, sideboards, everywhere! Even on your walls.
Alright, let’s talk about all the reasons candles are the best!
One. They come in all sizes
This one may be obvious, but it is still important to point out. Candles can come in all shapes and sizes which means they pair so well with one another, can make a large impact for not a huge investment, and no matter the space they fit. You can keep the candles all the same style or color if you want a uniformed look or mixed it all up if you want an informal feel.
Two. Stunning colors
Candles do not have to be plain white ones – they come in almost every shade you can dream of. Even better, each one cand include multiple colors so that as it burns you get a different experience throughout. In our home we use as many different colors as possible in our candle collection. We find that it is a great way to tie in our complementary shades from our color palette.
Three. Fun and wacky styles
Believe it or not candles do not have to be straight. One of my recent obsessions is twisted candles – have you seen them? I just love the added texture and depth they bring into the space. And the fun doesn’t stop there! There are U-shaped candles, braided candles, squiggly candles, candles molded to look like bodies, and so much more!
Four. Handmade and one of a kind
I think one reason there is a new boom of candles is because of all the creative artisans coming up with new designs. No matter your style there is a homemade candle that fits within it. One that we recently found that I loved are the candles with flower petals in them. They make my whimsical heart swoon! When looking for new candles to add to your collection make sure to check out artisans and small businesses who make them.
Now, don’t you think candles are the best and can be used for pretty much everything? Good. I’m glad you’re on our side now.
Oh, one thing we didn’t mention before but do love is beeswax candles! When purchasing those we do try to make sure that the beeswax is ethically sourced though. Gotta support those bees!
