Recently we repainted our favorite room in the house and what we now call The Snug. When we first moved into this house, we had this room as a dining room.
It looked lovely as the dining room, but we rarely used the space that way. It has always been my favorite room so we decided to redesign it so we’d use it more. Literally my greatest joy is moving furniture around. The room has a great view into the garden, a fantastic fireplace and a cozy atmosphere which is basically screaming to become a Snug.
It wasn’t until last Fall that we moved around our house and made this space the snug – we are obsessed! It had everything we needed but a cocooning color.
The room is East facing so it gets great sunlight in the morning and then the evening light comes through from the Study which is the room next door. We now use this room mostly in the evenings to watch tv after a long day’s work, so a cozy color was needed.
We originally thought about doing the room in Sulking Room Pink from Farrow and Ball but because of the amount of light that comes into the room it felt too pink.
Then we found Sulking Room Pink’s browner brother, Dead Salmon (also from Farrow and Ball). Although it is a funny name, the color was dead on (see what I did there? J) and after grabbing a sample pot we knew it was the one.
We decided to only paint the walls the Dead Salmon and leave the woodwork the color it used to be. We have talked about maybe doing another matching color but have not decided on it. Check out the pics below and let us know!
Also, we are still brainstorming the curtains for this room and I have found a couple options that we are choosing from. We knew we wanted a more traditional style with some kind of animal or bird or botanical feel. It has not been an easy feat! We will keep you posted on what we decide!
