Easy Tricks to Make your Grocery Store Flowers Look Like A Million Bucks

Hello my friends!

It is still too early for our local farmstands to have flowers so throughout the spring and especially for the Easter weekend I have been using grocery store flowers to spruce up the house.

Now, a bouquet of tulips or daffodils or whatnot will look fabulous just plunked in a vase but what if you pick up a mixed bouquet? How do we make that look great without a lot of effort, knowledge or money spent? Well, let me show you!

1. Buy Multiple Bouquets Within A Color Palette

When you are selecting your grocery store bouquets (I got four bouquets) make sure you have a group of colors you want to focus on. It can be as many as seven or eight but just make sure that all the flowers you are getting are within those colors. Also, select as many differ varieties of flowers as you can within those colors as well. The variation of textures will add to the overall effect!

2. Collect a Grouping of Small Vessels

This is where you may be venturing away from what you normally do. Instead of choosing one vase you are going to collect five to eight the little jars, cups, petit vases and anything else that is small that can hold a posy. I would recommend that all the items be of the same material whether it be glass, china, ceramic, or metal.

3. Easy Care Tips

This may not have anything to do with the styling, but these tips will help your flowers look better and last longer. After you unwrap the flowers make sure to remove any dead, waterlogged or dying pieces. Once you put the water in the vessels make sure you use lukewarm water and put a teaspoon of sugar in it as well.

4. Trim the Length of the Flowers

You always want to trim off an inch or so when you bring flowers home but this time you will be cutting so that the flowerhead is just over the top of the petit vases. Make sure that you that you trim the stem at an angle and remove any excess greenery that would be sitting in the water in the vase. You don’t want that as it messes up the water for the flowers!

5. Place All Posies Together in One Area

This is where all the magic happens! If you bought the flowers for a table then place all the posies grouped together throughout the table space. It will look best if you have various heights for all the posies. Play around with the placement of all the bouquets and you will find your favorite layout!

There you go! Now you can take your grocery store flowers and make them look like a million bucks. You can also do this with any flowers, not just from the store, but they can be from your garden or even the side of the road!

Let us know if you do this with your flowers, we would love to know how it comes out. Leave us a comment – we’d love to hear from you!
