The Story of our Design Course

Hello friends!

Did you hear that we are going to be in pre-launch of our design course this week?! Wednesday the 22nd was when we opened it to our email community and Friday the 24th we invited everyone else!

It has been so exciting to see something we have worked so hard come to fruition and are so thankful for everyone’s love, support and feedback as we perfect the course itself as well as the whole process.

Have we ever told you the story of how we realized we wanted to create an online design course? Well, let’s do it now!

Towards the end of 2021 Matthew and I were looking at how our business, Instagram and website had grown over the past year. We were so happy with the development, but we felt like we were missing something.

We wanted a new and improved way of being able to help people create the homes they have always dreamed. There is only so much time for us to work one on one with everyone!

We also knew that the design course would not be a how to decorate your house like A Broad and A Brit. That was not the problem we were trying to solve for people. We desired to advise people to find a way to connect their home to who they are. Deep down.

So, we brainstormed, mulled ideas over and it wasn’t until I was finalizing a course I was taking for something else that I realized we could do the same with our design idea!

We loved the idea of being able to create curated and focused content with workbooks and templates to help our customers succeed while being able to take it at their own pace.

From there we started road mapping the course itself, building each module and lesson while constructing the documents we would be offering as bonuses to the class. We made sure to organize the layout so that everything was bite size and easy to digest.

And, of course, we made sure that it centered on each individual and how they can reflect and learn more about themselves. Then they can put those new skills into action so that the end result is a home that is cohesive and fully them.

Throughout our process of forming the course we learned so much about ourselves, the way we design, what we resonate with and most importantly the best ways to communicate that with others. Along with some extra technical mumbo-jumbo.

Although we got a little caught up in the tech part of the learning, overall, it has been a great experience! We are so thankful we jumped into it even though learning new things can be super scary – it is worth it!

We look forward to tweaking the course when we start getting feedback and having it grow and change into its best version. We know that we can count on you guys to encourage us in that way. <3

Oh, also, we couldn’t have done this without the help of our tech team – we are so grateful for all of you, the work you do and the support you give us!

Any questions on the process or how we decided to create our design course? Let us know in the comments – we’d love to hear from you!
